SAG Awards Fashion

After a long, exhausting weekend of late nights and craziness, I settled down to watch the Screen Actor's Guild Awards. And it was far from exciting....SO, instead of listing my top & bottom 5 picks for last night's fashion, I am just going to skim the surface, stay positive, and give ya a few of my likes...

1. January Jones

Muchhhh improved from the Golden Globes Fashion Fiasco. This Carolina Herrara dress is Elegant & Tres Chic. Thumbs up, Jan!

2. Jessica Sizemore

I am actually a really big fan of this dress! Some have said that it is too busy, but, as you know, I am so down with the pink dresses this year! And Oscar de la Renta's use of color here is magnificent.

3. Sofia Vergara

This is not a dress that I would have chosen for myself, but she rocked it! Perfect curves and this shocking blue color made her one of the best looks of the night.

4. Halee Steinfeld

This dress grows on me everytime I see it! So reminiscent of something Barbie would have worn in the 90's! I love the color combinations and I think that this dress is very age-appropriate for the 14 year-old True Grit star.

That is all I have for now on the SAG fashion! I wanted to add to my Friday column another uber popular trend that I am obessed with now and always : NAUTICAL THEMED CLOTHING!! Yay, it just warms my heart! Toodles till Wednesday!

5 Favorites for This Week

I am obsessed with a few things this week and wanted to share them with you! I am in the mountains this weekend, so I am sure I will have some fun things to write about on Monday! Happy Weekend Wishes to You!

1. Pantone's Color of the Year= Honeysuckle

2. My new, amazingly chic bar that I purchased for a mere $65. I love bargain shopping :)
3. Fattening foods. Enough said.
4. My wonderful Fly Fishing Guide of a boyfriend, Tyler.

5. Jeopardy. What a guilty pleasure it is...although I don't know all of the smart people questions, I do know every pop culture questions that the book nerds do not. Hah, I love it.

Monday, Monday

It's been a few days since I've posted! Last week got busy towards the end....I had another interview at Belk Corporate for a position as a Merchandise Assistant. Seems like a pretty big job for someone right out of college! I am supposed to hear something by the end of this week.

Right after the interview, I was picked up by my two best friends from childhood....and the crazy weekend began! After what was meant to be a quick in-and-out at Nordstrom turned into a 30 minute no-good makeover! Ugggh! I hate it when you just want advice on a particular item and they decide they want to show you allll of their products...and taking off alll of my makeup in the process. Needless to say, I was perturbed and ended up buying the same makeup I use now, only in a lighter shade. Big ordeal...should have known better and just gone straight to the MAC counter.

After this ordeal, we needed a drink. So we hit happy hour at Taco Mac and then the night led us to an awesome little pub called Selwyn's. Super cute neighborhood bar in Charlotte! But my new FAVE place is called Andrew Blair's. Apparently, it's a restaurant that turns night club after hours. We danced our booties off! Best time with my friends since high school! If you are ever in Charlotte, check it out!

Great weekend of drinking, eating, hangovers, and laughter. I miss high school and no worries, I hate to say. But the time is here to get a job and grow up. But for now, I am going to watch my two Monday night loves: Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars! Yay for being young for the night! Toodles for now!

Beauty Must-Haves

I want to share with you my favorite eyeshadow. I use it everytime I get dolled up. I have found that this shadow looks great on everyone, regardless of skin tone or color.

Almay Intense i-Color

When my friend Kathleen shared this product with me, I was so excited to try it. I now use this eyeshadow in a variety of different colors daily. These eyeshadows are formulated to complement each different eye color. There are 3 shadows in every compact....one for your eyelid, crease and under the brow area. I use the one
for brown eyes because my eyes are brown :) Purple colors bring out the color of brown eyes and highlight your look at the same time. Below is a picture of my eyes that I cropped. I am wearing the Intense-i Brown Eyes Trio.

Sooo pretty!!

Almay also has additional trios formulated with light interplay technology to add extra highlighting to your eyes.

They have just introduced a new trio and I cannot wait to buy it! This Intense i-Color kit is called the Smoky-i. Get that smokey eye look tailored to your eye color and look better than those supermodels! Haven't tried it yet, but I'm going to go get it as soon as I am done writing! You should too! Check it out at Almay.com .

Golden Globes Fashion: Loves & Hates

The 2011 Golden Globe Awards showcased a much better spread of fashion than in years past. The ones I loved, I adored. The ones I hated, I despised. The array of pinks and glittery shimmers were among my favorites. Below I have listed my top dresses and the ones I never want to see again.

The Best

She did it again. Best color, best dress, best look for her body type.

OBSESSED. With the new hair color, the dress, & the pink color (pictures don't do the dress any justice.)

One of her all-time best looks. She looks great and I loved the cut-out back.

Another pink masterpiece. However, I found it a little too similar to her midnight blue Oscar de la Renta dress from the 2010 Emmy's.

Although Julianne's dress was a wee wrinkled, I am willing to overlook that and focus on the amazing hot pink color and the oh-so-chic one sleeve detailing. Hopefully, next time she'll bring some wrinkle guard.

 The Worst

Bad hair choice, too much going on with the dress, and horrible color for her skin tone. Go back to Nashville.

Pregnant? Yes. Wrong dress in general? Yes. The Black Swan of evening wear.

What happened to her since the filming of Burlesque? Yes, she is now divorced from her husband, but shouldn't she be looking better on the rebound???

No words. Always bad. And the shoes??? Really???

This looks like a dress that I had when I was 10, in the '90's, and not aware of the rules of fashion. Bad choice. Valentino should know better.

Just my opinions.....pictures from The Huffington Post & Harper's Bazaar.

P.S. Did you know you probably have a new zodiac sign? I know. Total B.S. Check it out at The Discovery Channel .

Fabulous Friday

Greetings! I have to get on a schedule of when I am going to write my posts! So, sorry it has been random. I am aiming for 3 days a week...Monday, Wednesday, & Friday.

I have wanted to share this artist with you ever since I started my blog. I discovered Sarah Ashley Longshore at the Well's Gallery in Charleston, SC in September 2009. She was hosting an art show while I was down visiting my parents while my dad played in a golf tournament. I had to go back to school the day of the show and was super disappointed that I did not get to meet this awesome girl. However, I have had the chance to learn more about her and tell her how much I adore her through her account on Facebook.

She paints incredibly colorful "pop" art inspired by everyday things and her celebrity obsession, Audrey Hepburn. She paints on canvas with acrylic and a heavy top glaze. My favorites include the ones of Veuve Cliquot Champagne bottles, her "Lurkin Berkin" paintings based on the iconic Hermes bag, and the girl with the goldfish. I cannot wait until I get a job because my first big girl purchase will be one of her works of art. I have never found an artist that showcases my style and love for color better. She is based out of her New Orleans art studio on Magazine Street and you can find her on her website AshleyLongshore.com .

Here are a few of her pieces to make your day happier! Enjoy!

Today's obsession is Houzz.com. I have posted an "idea book" of my dream home interiors on the right side of the page. It was made by a home design lover and posted to this website I stumbled upon while looking for things/ideas to decorate my imaginary house that I do not yet have....Anyways, it's a site where interior decorators and home enthusiasts can showcase their ideas and portfolios and share them with the world. I love it!! Check it out....

I'm Back!

I'm back after a couple of days in Louisville, KY and Nashville, TN....had so much fun! However, just checked my email and turns out I have an interview at Belk....TOMORROW! EEK-not much time, don't look to hydrated/cute after the holiday pig-outs, and i'm nervous! But I'm super pumped that they selected me to interview! If being bloated doesn't fall into the category of "looks don't matter", then all should go well! Wish me luck!

P.S. I'm learning how to post pics, make my blog prettier, etc...so i'll have pictures uploaded soon of my favorite things!
