75th Anniversary of the Masters

Hola! I hope everyone had a great week since I last wrote! I am finally back from an AMAZING experience at the Masters in Augusta, GA. It is just now hitting me how incredibly lucky I was to be able to work there and be a part of the 75th Anniversary of the tournament. By far the most beautiful golf course I have ever seen! The traditions are still going strong, including no running, no cellphones, sandwiches wrapped in green cellophane in case they are dropped on the ground (they blend in), and even a manually-operated scoreboard. You feel like you stepped into the 1950's, back in the days of Arnie Palmer & Jack Nicklaus. It was truly a unique feel and a week I will never forget!

One of the best parts of working was the people watching! I can't tell you the amount of designer digs and over-the-top bling I witnessed. The girls that I worked with and I would catch ourselves staring and whispering to each other about the huge rings and expensive clothes. We saw everything from Lilly to Gucci. All kinds of nationalities were represented, which made it ever cooler. And not just anyone can score a ticket to the Masters, so you can only imagine the kinds of people we saw! Andy Roddick, John Legend, Roger Federer, & retired NFL star, Eddie George, just to name a few.

On the golf course, I was most excited to see Phil Mickelson, Freddie Couples, Bubba Watson, Dustin Johnson, Graeme McDowell, & Tiger. It made me laugh when I realized they are just golfers, yet I am so mesmerized by them!! Matt Kuchar even smiled at me at one point (no joke!)...too bad I had a mouthful of pretzels when I tried to smile back!! I had never seen any of these top golfers, and, let me tell you, it was pretty awesome to see them up close & personal.

I didn't get the chance to take any pictures on the days that cameras were allowed, but I have to say, pictures can't do it any justice. I loved every minute of it...well, most of it since we were working 14 hour days! I had a blast with my team that I worked with, and do not know how I landed such a cool gig, stationed in the Main Golf Shop. If you ever get the chance to head to the Masters in early Spring, go for it! I can't believe my first Masters is over, but I'm already excited about next year!
