J.Balliet

Since I don't know how to "embed" a video yet (I know, I'm so behind....), I'm including the link to watch the video that Jonathan Balliet created from his pictures that he took at the Chas Mag fashion shoot. Can you tell I'm a little obsessed with him? Ok, and our photo shoot, too....Anyways check it out and find him on Facebook & Tumbler! Jonathan Balliet & J's Tumbler

A little background on J: He attended College of Charleston where he studied Classical Music & Studio Art. He is currently finishing up his degree in Photography from Trident Tech. He went on to complete an internship at Charleston Magazine where he was able to shoot Charleston Fashion Week, various Spoleto parties, and the Hyde Park Polo Match, just to name a few! While interning, he networked like crazy and was able to continue freelancing after his time was finished. His business is called j.Balliet and he'll be launching his site on the first of November. You need to get to know him fast because he's gonna be huge! You just wait!

Here's the video link! It would have looked so much cooler on the page, but this is the only way I know how to do it! Finery Redefined: A Behind the Scenes Look

Finery Redefined

Here it is! The fashion feature that we shot in the hottest month eeever in an amazing, historic home on South Battery Street in Charleston, SC. We're talkin' glam galore, people. I posted some of my favorites that made it into the mag, links to all the pics, and some behind-the-scenes photos taken by the fabulous Jonathan Balliet (lllove him!). Enjoy and let me know what you think!

P.S. The feature was shot by the uber talented Peter Frank Edwards. His work was recently featured in Garden & Gun as well as the issue of Travel & Leisure about the exact place in the Bahamas that I visited earlier in the year!! Isn't that crazy? Wish I had known prior to the shoot.....

My favorrrite look of the entire shoot. Tutus were even made locally by ReTulled!
The paintings in the back are by the owner of the house, artist Kat Hastie. TOO cool!

I kept calling this the "Carmen San Diego" look....

This is the Sept cover of Charleston Magazine. Note the glittered Louboutins....

Gorgeous.

There's Frank Edwards. Love this pic taken by yours truly

J's a genius :)

Oh yeah, style interns busy at work!

Not as lux as we'd wish, but it'll do
Saved the best for last. Oh, and yes, I did take a picture of myself in these works of art. It is currently the background of my phone :)

The Scene White Party--Spoleto Festival 2011

Hola! I know it's been a while since I've posted...I'm getting tired of saying that...but I wanted to share with you a guest blog I wrote for my editor's Style File blog at CharlestonMag.com. Yes, I Am Alive

Hello out there! It has been at LEAST 4 weeks since I've posted on here and I am absolutely over taking no time out of my day to do it! Craziness has been going on in my life and I have been oh-so-busy! I am now on my 4th week of being a Style Intern at Charleston Magazine. I can't believe time is flying by so fast. I have already learned so much....I'd say being thrown right into the job helps with adjusting. I have been working on the July & August magazines and the June issue was just released. So come July, I'll be in the Mast Head! Woot woot :)

I working under a great lady named Ayoka Lucas. She is the style maven around town here in the south. She helped start the ever-growing Charleston Fashion Week and is always out on the scene at important gatherings. I have the opportunity to go to the Spoleto Festival Scene's "White Party" this Saturday she since can't attend. I'm down! Spent a little too much on a pair of white jeans yesterday, but I believe they'll pay for themselves by the end of the summer.

Just got a new camera!!!! Don't know if I mentioned it, but dropped mine on the cement at the Derby. Typical, typical. So, adventures with my new Canon will begin soon. So happy to have another Canon....

I am drained of my fashion expertise & passion right now, so you will just have to check back next time when I'll list some of my new favorite finds! Glad to be back!!

Where Have I Been??

Helllloooo! I am so sorry that it may feel like I have fallen off the face of the earth this past week! I have been super busy, learning that I am moving to Charleston for the summer among other things!! I am super pumped about scoring an internship at Charleston Magazine under their style guru, Ayoka Lucas. Can't wait to contribute and learn about the industry I so desperately desire to be in! However, I start next Wednesday and have no place to live/work (really work, for money I mean....the internship is unpaid!)! So, I have been scrambling to set up my living arrangements for the summer. You will get a smile-worthy post from me before Thursday, I promise, because I miss my blog and have tons of fun things to write about it...so, until then, Happy Tuesday!!

Lilly Pulitzer Showroom Pics!!

Finally!! They're here....what you've all been waiting for!! The Lilly Pulitzer Showroom pictures from the Spring Furniture Market!

I was so overwhelmed with excitement and awe when I went to visit the showroom in early April. The colors, patterns, layout & design, and happiness would make anyone want to LIVE in Market Square. They have added additional pieces to the collection this year, and it should be available in the summer at select stores.

One negative, "I'm very unhappy about it" piece of information: The artwork is NOT for sale!! I almost broke down when they told me! They find it from the internet and other various sources. However, this is typical, because my favorite things I find while shopping are always either a) sold out or b) not for sale. Bummer, but the rest of the collection makes up for it!! So, grab a cupcake and some lemonade and get ready for some adorably preppy pictures!

I want my entire house to look like this!!

This chest has a high-gloss paint finish and when you open the doors, it's Carolina Blue inside!!

The lighting was bad, but the layout with the framed fabric prints is so fun!

Had to be on of my favorite corners of the showroom. I am obsessed with the Jackie O pictures lined in pink, the blue wall, the pink striped couch, everything.....I love it!!

My favorite picture

This look could work anywhere from Palm Beach to NYC....and could the fabrics get any cuter??

Prepster bedroom

Love the jewelry boxes and lamp....probably not for sale :(

Love the dining room table and chairs with the signature Lilly design. And I wish I could make something as neat as the wall display!

I want that art! Can't have it....

Lilly chair

Another pretty section of a bedroom.

Took this picture for my boyfriend, Tyler...the fish art adds some more of that beachy feel.

This would be a great look for a foyer or dining room

I hope you all have had your Lilly fix for the day! I still can't get enough! If you want to use some of my pictures in your blog or website, please mention me, as I took all of these myself! Thanks a bunch! Toodles!
